I have been with Watkins Inc since 1987. I built my Watkins business in the first 9 months to $250,000 in sales with 4 Managers. Since 1987, I have achieved many awards. I have travelled to England, France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco and the Caribbean all expenses paid. My highest level achieved has been the $400,000 Club.
Despite this amazing achievement, almost immediately after starting with Watkins, I had surgery, which marked the beginning of future illnesses. I have had to rebuild my business many times over due to illness. It started with Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia in 1992. I had also built my Dream home many years back, and later put to end an old life. At that time I was not able to put as much effort into my business. I married Nigel Thom, our Business Manager, in 1996. He is now the epitome of the Watkins Man, doing a lot of my deliveries. When he became sick, I took over caring for him, and raised my grandson for the first four years of his life. My life has highlighted my belief that people mean a lot more to me than wealth. Later, in 2004, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. But now, I am starting to rebuild my Business; I plan on being in the Executive Club in 2006/7.
This whole process is being documented, the rebuilding of my business despite by illnesses, in a journal which I plan on turning into a book in 2006/7. This book will describe how someone with a disorder, which people do not see since the illness is hidden, can give HOPE to those who suffer from the same illness and no longer feel useful. My goal is to build my Business by helping my Managers achieve their goals and being there for them with whatever is needed to help them grow. I will match their time with mine.

I remember the fantastic products my Mom used that had the WATKINS name on it. Lemon Pie, Vanilla, Pepper, Cinnamon, Spices, Liniment for the aches and Medicated Ointment for those colds. In the mid 1960's the Watkins Man stopped coming around (we later found out he had died and no one took his place) and we had no idea where to find those wonderful products. Lucky for me in the spring of 1981 a Watkins Man knocked on my door. That Friday morning I was very busy getting ready to go away for the weekend, but excited to see the WATKINS name still around. I asked to see his catalogues and would he call me on Monday after I'd had time to view them. He must have seen my excitement because he mentioned a promotion Watkins had running. If I signed up to sell Watkins Products and sold $350.00 I could earn a beautiful watch with a bright red strap. Anyone who knows me knows I love color. YOU GUESSED IT. I wanted that watch but I also wanted to have access to the fantastic Watkins products I'd known. I showed the catalogues to people I was with over the weekend and got over $350.00 in orders before I'd even placed mine. When he called on the Monday, all I could think about was how soon I could get my kit to get me started and when would the watch arrive. I still have the Watkins watch but the strap has LOOOOOONG gone. Not like the products.

Managers Leona Borsa and Dennis Maughan ID 095640
From a very early age, both Dennis & Leona remember Watkins products in use at home, but Dennis also had a closer connection with Watkins. When Dennis was a young child, his family lived near to the Canadian headquarters of Watkins in Winnipeg and two of his aunts worked there. He remembers going to work with his aunts when he was about three! As a cute little blond-haired boy, his visits not only were a special treat for him, but the ladies who worked at Watkins also enjoyed his visits. Since then, the Winnipeg offices have moved and we are all much older! A few years after moving to BC from Manitoba, Dennis met Cheryl Young who became Dennis & Leona’s sponsor into Watkins in 1995. Since then, we have tried and enjoyed most of Watkins excellent quality products, have met new friends, and in general have had a wonderful adventure.

Watkins Products have been in my
life for as long as I can remember. The products were in my parent’s and
grandparent’s houses, then later in mine. As a little child I can remember the Watkins man coming door to door and many Watkins products were used and enjoyed in my parent's home. I used to sneak off down to the stables with Watkins Red Liniment for easing the stiffness of my horse and myself after show jumping.
Life has a funny way of making a person
re-evaluate their goals and the direction they are taking. I had to re-evaluate
my goals after health reasons prevented me from returning as a Registered Animal
Health Technologist.
Then that brain light bulb
illuminated for me and I realized I was missing out on a great opportunity. I
had always purchased Watkins products…why not sell them? After all, with
over 400 products that people like you and I use daily, you will see the quality
and diversity of the entire product line.
So in September of 2004, my husband and I made
the decision to start our own home business by utilizing the business
opportunity Watkins provides.
With the training aids
and guidance I received from both my up line manager and from Watkins, I
advanced through the four associate levels to manager in just two months
and at the Watkins Conference in 2005, we were
presented with a plaque "14th place consultant". This was surprisingly easy to accomplish as Watkins Products almost sell
themselves.
This means that there is no limit
to the income you can generate. While we are growing our business, we have been
introducing the Watkins business opportunity to others. We are now helping them
to build their business’s which is now beginning to improve their lives. By aiding others to grow their business, it grows mine
and the organization. It is a win-win for everyone as we all work together with
the goal of achieving all our wants and dreams.
